This year, C4C received the prestigious Erasmus+ accreditation for youth worker projects, awarded by the Czech National Agency for International Education and Research (DZS). We previously shared the details of this accreditation [in this article]. This award opened doors to international educational opportunities—beginning with our very first initiative: a trip for directors and educators from children’s homes to Albania.
A Week of Empowerment and Inspiration
A group of fourteen participants from across the Czech Republic traveled to the seaside town of Golem to take part in an intensive program focused on the Empowerment Self Defense (ESD) method—practical self-defense techniques and violence prevention. ESD is widely embraced in Albania and is even part of the national school curriculum.
But the program was about more than just training. Participants also exercised together, engaged in meaningful discussions, relaxed by the sea and pool, and immersed themselves in the local culture. One of the most valuable aspects of the trip was the ongoing exchange of experiences—whether during workshops, free time, or travel.
A special highlight of the week was a visit with the director of a local children’s home, which gave participants fresh inspiration and renewed motivation for their work back in the Czech Republic.
Stronger Than Ever
After a week of learning, bonding, and cultural exchange, the group returned home not only with new skills and insights, but also with friendships and ideas for future collaboration. They left as individuals—but came back as a close-knit team.
“Thank you once again for the fantastic organization of the entire trip. Although it was quite demanding, every day was meaningful and fulfilling. I’ll make full use of the experience in my work. I was captivated by Albania—the whole stay was simply excellent,” commented Martina Mrlíková, Director, Children’s Home and Primary School Vizovice
Albania is also the homeland of Nobel Peace Prize laureate Mother Teresa.
“We’d like to symbolically continue her legacy—working to ensure that every participating children’s home can follow in her footsteps of peace and kindness,” remarked Markéta Franke, C4C’s Goodwill Ambassador, who actively supported and accompanied the group on behalf of C4C throughout the journey.
A Word of Thanks
