Every year, Chance 4 Children tries to give children from children’s homes something more than just a “program”. We want them to feel that they belong, that they are welcome, and that they truly matter. That’s why, for the second year in a row, C4C hosted a Christmas get-together at Krenovka Cultural Center — a symbolic wrap-up to our year-round weekend workshops for children’s homes.

Throughout the year, we meet the individual homes one by one. But at year’s end, we bring everyone together — so children from different parts of the Czech Republic can meet, share joy and experiences, and spend one unforgettable day together in Prague. From the very first moment, excitement was in the air and laughter, anticipation and the happiness of being together again abounded. A day to be remembered!.

It’s a beautiful tradition for us. Ending the year together with the children—laughing, playing, singing, and giving them the attention they deserve—that’s the greatest gift we could ask for,” says Petra, C4C’s project manager who’s been organizing the event for the second year.

The Day Began on the Vltava

The gathering kicked off at Karlovo náměstí, where all boarded a boat for a cruise along the Vltava. For many of the children, it was their first time experiencing Prague from the water—warming up with hot tea and laughing with friends along the way. Next came a visit to the Muzeum Karlova mostu, which pleasantly surprised even those who had confidently declared that “museums aren’t really their thing.”

After a walk through wintery Prague, the team arrived at the Krenovka Cultural Center — a place that has become our safe harbor for the second year in a row. There, a Christmas lunch was waiting, along with plenty of snacks throughout the day, all adding to the warm, home-like atmosphere.

Following the welcome, a lively and colorful program got underway. First up was an interactive show by Tanec Praha. This was followed by a magic and balloon show, and then karaoke—during which laughter echoed throughout the building.

And because Christmas is also about wishes coming true, thanks to the generosity of C4C’s donors and a clothing and accessories collection from iconic Primark, the children were able to choose new outfits fitted to their own taste.

I liked best that we could sing karaoke and that everyone here is so nice,” laughed one of the girls during the afternoon karaoke session, which spontaneously turned into one big joined celebration.

We sincerely thank all the children , carers, volunteers, and partners who shared this day with us. Without you, it wouldn’t be possible to create the atmosphere of safety, joy, and acceptance that these children deserve.

A Big Thank You to Our Partners

Our heartfelt thanks go to Pražské Benátky s.r.o., Tanec Praha, Sudop Real a.s., Kompek, Primark and its customers for donating fashionable clothing—and above all to the Krenovka Cultural Center, which provides us not only with a wonderful space, but also with genuine human support and openness.

We’re happy that this gathering is becoming a firm part of the year’s end. We’re already looking forward to creating another day where everyone leaves with the feeling that the world hasn’t forgotten them,” adds Jakub Morávek, event organizer at Krenovka.
