Educators in children’s homes play many roles. Amongst a myriad of things, they´re also obliged to teach children digital literacy and internet safety. Lacking the oversight of their natural parents, it is the home´s staff, their aunts and uncles, who take on the role of supervising their interaction with the Internet. Touchy subject!
The “Smart School” project was set for several months and after analysis and methodological preparations, the training of educators began – unfortunately, due to the current situation, online. Despite this, the training was very interactive and led to an open discussion. Though many things were discussed, one important fact stood out: children do not have the right role models on the Internet. They lack suitable idols that they could safely follow.
We therefore agreed to do something about it, and consequently teamed up with the popular influencer and singer Raego. Together, we came up with an online workshop for children. The talk on the Internet and about the Internet took place on February 17, 2021. And it was a hit!
Children knew Raego and they were fascinated that they could talk to him, listen to how he fought his demons and racism, how music helped him and how he works with technology and social networks.
Raego (real name Vladimír Pham) thrilled his young listeners, although it wasn´t easy for him as he was ill at the time. However, he still devoted his energy toward the children and did not shy away from any question they fielded.
Thank you very much for that, Raego!
“The workshop was great!” the educators from Ledce and Nové Strašecí wrote to us. “The children played Raego’s songs, talked to each other and to us about how Raego had impressed them as a personality. They have a new role model now – and that’s a great thing! ”
