– As the month of May drew to a close, the BIOS sports hall was alive with energy, excitement, and camaraderie, as it hosted a special floorball tournament for children from orphanages. More than just a sporting event, the tournament aimed to boost confidence, foster teamwork, and create unforgettable memories for its young participants.
Organized by Chance 4 Children in partnership with top Czech floorball clubs Kanonýři Kladno and Tatran Střešovice, the event saw professional players join the children’s teams on the court. Each squad was strengthened by an A-team athlete, giving the kids not just skilled teammates but also inspiring role models.
48 children formed seven teams from orphanages across the Czech Republic and competed in a spirited, yet fair-play atmosphere. While the matches were competitive, the real victory lay in the joy of participation, the sense of belonging, and the bonds formed on and off the court.
“The teams were strong and driven, but what truly stood out was the incredible fair-play spirit. The kids supported each other, with the stronger players encouraging those still learning—even in the heat of the game. It was a powerful display of solidarity, friendship, and mutual respect,” said Petra Erguvanli, C4C’s tournament organizer.

Beyond the matches, attendees enjoyed a variety of side activities—including a photo booth, autograph sessions with sports stars, commemorative diplomas, and winners trophies. Every child left with a smile, knowing they had been part of something special.
“For Kanonýři Kladno, being part of this initiative is an honor. We know not every child has the same opportunities, and that’s why it’s so important to show them how sports can bring joy, build confidence, and open new doors,” said Tadeáš Chroust, youth head coach of Kanonýři Kladno.
“This tournament is a perfectly examplifies of how sports can help children grow—not just as athletes, but as individuals. We’re proud to contribute to their journey,” added Jakub Menhart, general manager of Tatran Střešovice.
The positive impact was clear in the feedback from participants, including staff from the Žatec orphanage: “Thank you for an incredible day. Our boys made new friends and discovered a passion for floorball they want to keep pursuing.”
