Fight For a Better Life!

How C4C’s work inspired some top managers in Prague to resort to unique means to raise funds for C4C’s programs for socially disadvantaged and children at risk in the Czech Republic.

For the period of four months, in the wee hours of the morning every Tuesday and Thursday, 17 of Prague’s top managers chose to undergo a grueling fitness training at the SK Boxing Praha gym. They’re getting in shape for a remarkable event they decided to participate in. At 6 PM on Friday, June the 5th , they will play an active part in an amateur boxing match at the Tesla Arena to raise awareness for the plight of children less fortunate than others, and raise, amidst the raging financial crisis, much needed funds for the continuance of C4C’s popular programs for children in need.

Organized for C4C by brothers Jan and Petr Saglena of JS Partner & Broker Consulting, the high-profile event features a SMS raffle for a brand-new Harley Davidson XR 1200 Sportster motor bike, worth close to 400.000 CZK. For those who need to see to believe, the bike is currently on display at Metropole mall in Zlicin! Send your SMS (or multiples) off now and have a chance to win this legendary bike for only 30 CZK – the price of the SMS! (Send the SMS to 9030930 and don’t forget to type the following text message: BOX A All proceeds of the contest are being made available to Chance 4 Children’s humanitarian and educational programs for children in need!

“The chances of actually winning the bike are best for those sending multiple text messages”, comments Petr Saglena. “Imagine, investing just a few hundred or a few thousand crowns into SMS’s and actually taking this beauty home with you on June the 5th…!”  And, needless to say, the more SMS’s are being send, the more proceeds for C4C! It’s win-win all around!

Celebrity  singer and actor Sagvan Tofi will MC the evening and set the tone and atmosphere throughout the night for this battle for charity. A special  website has also been created for the event and all pertinent information about the match is being made available here in detail: www: galavecer-boxu.cz! There is also an extensive media campaign underway to promote the match and raise awareness for C4C’s constituency: Children at risk and in need!

We asked Jan Saglena why he chose the unusual vehicle of a boxing match for a fundraiser for a charity? Here’s what he had to say: “We were just trying to think out of the box when we were planning this event and we wanted there to be a degree of sacrifice involved on the part of the participants as well. And, in a way, what better way could you express your dedication to a worthy cause, than by being willing to take home a punch or two for the benefit of needy and disadvantaged children?” Jan and his brother Petr will be participating in the boxing match themselves.

The qualifying matches will only last one minute each and a total of 15 short fights are planned for the evening before the two runners-up will contend for the title. A panel of judges will evaluate the well-padded fighters for their style, speed and technique.

Inspired by the challenge, even the C4C team decided to field a participant. Terence (Terry) Fane, acting vice president for C4C, will throw in his lot with the contestants on June the 5th. “When total strangers to our work are willing to take to the ring for C4C’s cause and the children we’re helping, how could we not be there as well”, smiles Terry, who’s been getting himself ready for the evening by regularly attending the fitness training leading up to the event.

It’s promising to be an extraordinary evening, so why don’t you drop on by and watch it all unfold? Perhaps you’ll be able to drive off on your very own Harley that very night… There is no entrance fee, but voluntary donations for C4C will be gratefully accepted upon entering the premises by C4C’s host of friendly volunteers.  VIP seats, including catering, are available for 3000 CZK. For the VIP section please RSVP before May 27th to: 775 263 775 or send an email to: mail@c4c.cz

Looking forward to seeing you!
