Auction Proceeds of the Golden Jerseys action of Jaromir Jagr and his Kladno Knights Ice Hockey Team literally went through the roof, netting 446.577 CZK for C4C’s Dr. Clown program! And – Jaromir’s Jersey stays in Kladno!
After a 10 day betting marathon on www.aucro.cz, the auction for the Golden Jerseys of Jaromir Jagr and his Kladno Knights Club brought in nearly half a million CZK! The funds are designated for C4C and its popular Dr. Clown program, bringing smiles and laughter into hospital rooms with resident children in the Czech Republic.
Commenting on the action, Jaromir praised Chance 4 Children and its Dr. Clown program:
“I prefer charities which work transparently and the money collected is used directly for the project. I really don’t like it when moneys are collected and part of it goes only God knows where and has no impact. It is very important for us to know how the money is used and this is why we chose Dr. Clown.”
As expected, Jaromir’s Jersey scored the highest bid of 30 Golden Jerseys of the Knights club which were auctioned off. It climbed to an incredible 150.000 CZK and it stayed in Kladno! The Czech-Moravian Commodity Exchange, Kladno, represented by Ing. Pavel Storkan, was the highest bidder and final lucky winner of the much thought-after item.
And just a day after the auction closed, in a gesture of solidarity with the C4C and Dr. Clown, three prominent Kladno Knights and the winner of Jaromir’s Golden Jersey, joined the Dr. Clown team, lead by Jaroslaw Wojas, manager of the Dr. Clown initiative and C4C co-founder, and went to the children’s ward of the Kladno hospital to experience the Dr. Clown magic first hand.
Tagging along to a regular Dr. Clown visit at the hospital was a unique experience for Jiri Tlusty, Libor Prochazka and Jan Chabera, all elite players of the Kladno Knights.
“It was wonderful to have had the opportunity to make children happy in this way. We actually managed to bring smiles and laughter to the children here, which will contribute to make their stay in the hospital more pleasant and bearable”, said Jiri Tlusty, one of the Knights major strikers.
And, after all is said and done, that is the very philosophy of the Dr. Clown initiative: to help children overcome the trauma of prolonged hospital stays with Dr. Clown’s tried and proven “Smile Therapy”!
