C4C Christmas Season Highlight: Charity Auction and Christening of the new star-studded C4C 2014 Celebrity Calendar!

Christmas season is usually a fast-paced time of events and fundraisers for active non-profits like C4C, proving that the age old adage “making hay while the sun is shining” still holds true – even in our modern times… 🙂

So, it comes as no surprise that the yuletide season was used for the launch celebration of C4C’s latest Celebrity calendar, combined with the charity auction of the original photographs, canvassed and framed, of the participating stars and personalities!

To realize the ambitious project, 12 distinctly different stars, actors, athletes and other prominent personalities, invited from a broad spectrum of society, all rallied around a common C4C theme: “I had my chance – let’s give them one too!” Captured by renowned photographer Jan Kasl, the pictures of this year’s C4C Charity Calendar are stunning and captivating, visualizing the calendars theme and C4C’s motto: “Every Child Deserves a Chance”

From iconic Lucka Bila, popular Leon Mares, TV Nova news anchors Lucie & Rey, gold medalist (and heart-throb) David Svoboda, Rocker Matej Ruppert, to visionary builder and man of faith Radim Passer, just to name a few, – all made themselves available for the high profile photo sessions in support of C4C and its constituency: children at risk and in need.

“It’s really not a cakewalk to schedule 12 different, powerful personalities for photo shoots – these folks are usually super busy”, comments Elena Sulcova from Eventissimo Event Management, the company responsible for the flawless implementation of the entire project. From the initial calendar conceptualization, subsequent choosing of the distinguished participants, scheduling of appointments, layout, printing, launch prep, catering – all the way to marketing, fundraising and venue selection – Elena never missed a beat and stayed on top of things!

“I call her Miss Calendar”, jokes Manfred Franke, C4C founder and chairman. “If anyone deserves credit it certainly is Elena. Without her, there would be no calendar – literally!”

Located in the very heart of Prague, Galeria Gate, the event’s venue, provided the perfect ambience for the event.  Popular TV star Lenka Vacvalová effortlessly hosted the evening and musical accompanyment was provided by pop singer Tereza Cernochova and Brasilian virtuoso Santiago Ferreira. The musical highlight of the evening, though, was a surprise performance and jam session featuring Tereza and members of the band „Stripes“ from the Sazava orphanage.

“It is very rewarding for me to watch children who participate in C4C’s Creative Guitar Program, actually get up on stage and show what they’ve learned”, muses Kathy Wojas, project manager of C4C’s educational initiative Springboard to Life. “They really know how to play now!” Band members have benefitted for years from the musical coaching of Michal Nemecek, C4C’s senior music teacher. When he’s not teaching, Michal heads up legendary Czech rock band Pumpa!

The evening rung out with a rather spirited auction of the original calendar photographs, which were prominently on display, canvassed and framed. The auctions grand total was a respectable 72.000 CZK which landed undiluted in C4C’s coffers due to the fact that all the evening’s services, from the venue to the food and beverages (including the delicious “Angelato” ice-cream) were donated and provided for C4C free of charge.

A big THANK YOU goes to all you generous givers!! We couldn’t have pulled it off without you!
