Under the auspices of C4C´s Springboard to life program, Martina Krausová has been teaching yoga to the staff at the Children’s Home in Unhošť for more than a year.

“I really feel like I´ve found my calling here”, says Martina of her work, “the staff is so appreciative of my work with them!”

“The journey was not always easy,” Martina recalls, “but learning and teaching make sense to me.”  According to her, Yoga lessons cannot be merely described – they must be experienced! In addition to stretching the body, they also relax the nervous system, balance the hormonal system, sooth the mind, bring deep relaxation and expand the consciousness. But the biggest advantage, she explains, is that anyone, anywhere, can practice Yoga – it’s not limited by age, weight, gender, or religious beliefs.

“Anyone can handle the techniques I teach”, says Martina.

She sees great value in lessons for educators, caregivers and nurses. Due to the abundant challenges of their jobs, it is priceless that they can take a break from normal activities for a while, stretch, gain strength in relaxation and quiet the mind during meditation. Then, rested and charged with new energy, they return to their daily duties – often with a new perspective and inner strength.

“I would like to thank you for the opportunity to practice yoga”, says Mrs. Vršecká from the Children’s Home in Unhošť. “The lessons make us consider our own bodies and emotions. These are new experiences for us that are very useful in our work.”

Also the director of the children´s home, Mr. Jiří Beránek seems to be satisfied. “We’re glad we have yoga lessons here. The educators are thrilled and so am I,” he smiles.
