On Saturday 24.9.2022, we met for the second year at the Doksy Nature Theatre to enjoy a day of crafts and creativity while supporting Dr. Klaun’s Laughter Therapy. The voluntary entrance fee landed directly into C4C´s charity box, which was handed over to the chairwoman of the Chance 4 Children Foundation, Mrs. Markéta Franke, at the end of the day. Even though the weather forecast was a bit of a stretch (and outdoor events are very weather-dependent), everything turned out great! The skies brightened up and the visitors turned up in large number.

Children and parents alike had the opportunity to enjoy various crafts, encouraging their imaginations and testing their skills. Everyone enjoyed various art workshops, painting on ceramics, making mosaics, spinning clay on a wheel, making bobbin lace or creating animals from wooden discs. Special praise was showered upon the students of the Secondary School of Design and Crafts in Kladno for their carpentry, modelling and confectionery workshops. It was an interesting experience for them too, to meet so many people interested in their work. Jan Marek’s falconry school was also present the whole day, wowing the crowd with two raptor flyovers in front of the stage. Visitors could learn to juggle under the guidance of young Adam. He challenged the clowns as much as the young majorette Vali did, as they both tried to teach the clowns their skills with cheers from the audience.

All day long, the creative workshops were accompanied by a musical programme on the stage. Musical singer Jakub Vostřák opened the day with songs from fairy tales and films, then David Noll played the piano and sang songs from the Sklep Theatre repertory and other pieces, sometimes accompanied by another musician from the Sklep Theatre, Jaroslav Vaculík, on guitar or drums. The latter gave a separate drumming workshop for children, right after the performance of the Kladno children’s drumming band Panda Banda. The program was filled to the last minute, no one had a chance to get bored.  Quite on the contrary, many craftsmen extended the opening of their stands even after the event ended after 4 pm.

The same was true of the excellent refreshments, which were served to the visitors at least half an hour longer than planned. To name a few, there was the outstanding vegan bistro Lazy Beetroot (where even a carnivore would forget about missing anything), the Alfatau Café with pancakes and toasts, the interactive Thai Ice Cream stand where children could make their own ice cream from fresh ingredients, the classic sausage and hot dog stand, or the sweet spot of homemade cookies and chocolate truffles from Mlsota Kakabob.

All creative, musical and gastronomic needs were truly satisfied that day. Enthusiasm and gratitude also accompanied the opening of the charity box for Dr. Clown, which was counted at the end of the event. It contained a magnificent 33.000,- CZK.

Many, many thanks to the association Živé Doksy z.s., headed by the good soul Kateřina Kostková, thanks to whom the beautiful space of the Natural Theatre Doksy comes to life in a meaningful way.

Dear Doksy, the second year of the craft day is over and we will meet again next year. We have a lot of fun every time we get together. Thank you!
