Dr. Clown and Robin Hood team up to help needy children in Czech hospitals

05.05.2021

Since 1996, Chance 4 Children has been helping thousands of needy children in orphanages, elderly folks in senior homes, organizations such as the Red Cross, Caritas and also asylum homes. Just to put a number on it: the fair market value of the aid distributed by C4C´s Robin Hood team to date exceeds 800.000.000 CZK. Yep, you´ve read this correctly – almost a billion CZK!

So, when pondering how to better be of help in light of the Corona crisis, we came to realize that we could invite our good, old friend Robin Hood  (you know, that notorious guy, nemesis of the Sheriff of Nottingham…:-) to help our Dr. Clown team to reach out to families of our little patients, who are truly struggling presently and in dire need of assistance. We shared this idea with head nurses and chief pediatricians and their response was extremely positive.

Consequently, our Robin Hood team delivered a variety of brand new clothing for children and young adults, ages 5 to 18, to the Kladno, Benesov and Thomayer hospitals, to be passed on to struggling families – folks not doing so well during these hard times.

The response was, well – simply overwhelming. We were told, by nurses and doctors alike that they´ve rarely seen such gratitude and appreciation, often accompanied by tears of joy – especially given the fact that these families came to the hospital full of worries for the wellbeing of their children.

If nothing else, it proves that just a little love can go a long, long way…

We here at Chance 4 Children are grateful that we can offer a helping hand to these families who are going through a tough period in their lives, via our good friends, the doctors and nurses, who daily do their best to save lives and help the sick.
