Finally over the hump: C4C now duly registered as non-profit civic association in Slovakia as well!

After the red tape, paperwork and birth pangs usually preceding a daunting task like incorporation, it’s finally reality. Effective immediately, Chance 4 Children Slovakia is a legal entity and up and running.

After working for months on finalizing the legal framework, C4C found its legal footing as a non-profit, humanitarian civic association in Kosice, arguably probably the neediest part of the country. „Given the realities on the ground, we decided to incorporate in Kosice as the need there, compared to the rest of the country, is very dire and acute“, says Rafal Wojas, C4C’s director of operations. „Many orphanages here are still woefully under funded and can benefit from C4C’s programs immensely.“

C4C’s involvement in Slovakia has been an ongoing concern for many years. Valuable aid shipments to Southeastern Slovakia have done much in the past to improve the infrastructure of financially struggling homes and institutions in the country. In recognition of C4C’s efforts, Slovak Ambassador H.E. Ladislav Ballek already invited the C4C team, after their last trip to the country, to the Slovak Embassy in Prague to express his gratitude and appreciation for their active involvement and help.

Heading up C4C‘s Slovak office will be Marek and Lucia Zamočník, both long time supporters and affiliates of C4C. Until proper funding, sponsorship and a budget can be established, Marek and his wife will run the office on a volunteer basis. Says Marek: „I’m thrilled that C4C Slovakia is finally a reality. It’s been a dream of ours for many years to help institutionalized and socially disadvantaged children in our country to have a decent life and a better future. The C4C model is truly tried and proven and we’re looking forward to really make a difference in this country!“
