A summer to remember. A summer full of travel, new friendships, and life experiences that young adults from children’s homes will carry into adulthood. At Chance 4 Children (C4C), thanks to the DiscoverEU program, we organized our second joint European trip to help participants explore the world independently, responsibly, and courageously.
A Journey of Discovery Our second expedition began in Vienna, offering a first taste of a major European metropolis. From there, we continued to sunny Italy: visiting romantic Verona, admiring the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and falling in love with Venice’s canals and narrow streets. The trip also featured swimming in the sea, island boat trips, and shared Italian dinners.
A School of Life This journey was about much more than sightseeing; it was an opportunity for real personal growth:
- Financial Literacy: Participants learned to manage a daily budget in Euros and plan expenses for meals and personal spend.
- Communication Skills: They practiced foreign languages daily, overcoming shyness and realizing they can navigate abroad with confidence.
- Problem Solving: They learned that unexpected challenges aren’t reasons to panic, but situations to solve calm-headedly.
- Team Spirit: Strong new friendships and a lasting support network were built along the way.
Feedback That Speaks Volumes The response from participants is the most rewarding part for us: 100% want to remain active in our Rise Up community. Over half stated that after this experience, they feel confident enough to travel abroad completely on their own.
